  1. Thanks for the link, Chris. We tend to think that the Americans don't do proper Classics, but some of the most useful textbooks for learners originate from there. Indeed, two of the most authoritative grammars are both by Americans - Goodwin's Greek Grammar and Gildersleeve & Lodge's Latin Grammar:
